Social - Lions fact: over 27 million third world eye operations have been funded by the Lions

Wellesbourne & District Lions Club not only run the Santa Floats, the Classic Fun Day or just turn up at Fetes and Fayres around our District, we also have fun doing social things.

After every period of running the Santa Floats we go out for our annual Christmas Lunch. In 2018 we went to The Stag at Redhill and had a fantastic Christmas Lunch. The food was excellent, the service was quick and the staff friendly. We were able to have a room all to ourselves so we were not disturbed by anyone and we didn't disturb anyone else in the main bar areas.

Back in November we were driven in a minibus down to The Cotswold Distillery. There we had a tour of their distilling process followed by a tasting of Whisky and Gin. We had a great time and their staff were just great. This was on a Sunday afternoon, so after a few tastings we needed to have something to eat, we arranged to stop at The George at Brailes, if you've never been you should go and try it. We had some great food and great real ale, and of course, their staff are also fantastic.

In the summer we usually have a Barbeque, usually going to the garden of one of our members. Sometimes we book the crazy golf, over in Warwick. We start with a picnic in the park, have a session at the golf, and then visit a local pub for a drink or two.

We've visited several breweries, been go-karting, we've been to different curry houses and been to a few beer festivals.

Each year we celebrate the founding of our club by having a Charter night. This historically has been a dinner dance at a local hotel, but over the years we have changed things up and done some different things. This Year's plan is to go back to a dinner dance.

So you see, we're not just boring old people who don't do anything, we're active, have fun, enjoy ourselves and put things back into the community.
